Massage Etiquette

Information about Your Visit

If you are unsure of massage etiquette, the anticipation of what happens during your visit to a Certified Massage Therapist could cause some undue stress.  Your therapeutic massage should be relaxing & rejuvenating.  The following information will help ease any questions you may have.

.

Checking In and Checking Out

Please arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to your appointment. This allows ample time for you to check in (includes filling out a Health History Form), use the rest room, speak with the Certified Massage Therapist, and begin to unwind. We strive to keep appointments on schedule so if you arrive late and the room or therapist is booked after your session, although we really dislike doing it, your session may have to be shortened or rescheduled.

After your treatment, you will be allowed a few minutes to relax, stretch and just breathe before getting up from the table.

When you are complete and collected you will be checked out.  You may pay using a credit card or cash.

Your First Appointment

You will complete a Health History Form which the Certified Massage Therapist will discuss with you.  The therapist will also speak with you about what areas you would like to focus on during your treatment.  After your treatment, the Certified Massage Therapist will complete a follow-up discussion with you as to maintain the benefits of your massage.

Clothing Options

Typically the client is fully unclothed.  We want each client to feel comfortable and their privacy respected.  Some clients do prefer to wear their bottom undergarment which is completely respected.

Draping

You will be properly draped at all times during your treatment to keep you warm and comfortable.  Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

Medical Conditions

If you have any type of medical condition, please be sure to mention it when you schedule your appointment. Certain treatments may be contraindicated and a Doctor’s referral or written permission will be needed.  The restrictions are put in place to protect your health and well-being along with other people’s health and well-being in mind, too. Thank you for taking your health & well-being as seriously and caring for others as we do.

Methods of Payment

We accept most credit cards and cash.

If you forget or misplace your gift card you will be instructed to use another form of payment at the time of service.

{Please have the proper ID when paying with a credit card.}

Gift Cards/Certificates
Gift cards are non-refundable and non-transferable.  They may be used for services only.  Please use the gift card/certificate within a timely manner, suggested timely manner is within one year of purchase date.  Please note that when calling to schedule your appointment – inform us that you will be redeeming a gift card/certificate for your services.

{If you forget or misplace your gift card you will be instructed to use another form of payment at the time of service…Please see “Methods of Payment”.}

Communication

Communication is very important.  Your treatment, time and body are yours, and we want you to thoroughly enjoy your experience. Please be sure to communicate preferences to your therapist:  The amount of pressure (re: for your muscles), room temperature (re: need an additional blanket), or whether you want conversation or silence. If you do not tell your massage therapist, she will not know if you’re uncomfortable.

Please let your Certified Massage Therapist know immediately if you are uncomfortable for any reason. Our goal is for your experience to be positive, and corrections can only be made if we are made aware of a problem at the time of service.

Cell Phones

Because the massage environment should be a therapeutic and stress-reducing experience, we request that all mobile & handheld devices, especially cell phones be turned off or on silent before entering the building.  It would be extremely appreciated!  Thank you!

Food and Beverage

It’s best not to receive a therapeutic massage on a full stomach.  Please schedule your meals or snacks to allow at least an hour before your treatment. Drink water prior to your appt. Since therapeutic massage introduces clean, oxygenated, nourished fluids into your tissues and stimulates your body to purge toxins, it is important to flush them out by drinking plenty of water after your appointment.
